Outdoor Tennis opens May 15th.
We have been working diligently to bring MIBC amenities back as soon as possible under social distancing guidelines that are consistent with the Governor’s four-phase framework for reopening the State. We are now ready to move forward with reopening MIBC’s tennis and pickleball courts to singles and family play, subject to the specific safety requirements. In developing this safety plan, the board and management have consulted with other clubs, the City of Mercer Island and State officials. Last night, the Governor released Clarifications to Phase One – Outdoor Recreation. This acknowledged that tennis is viable and relatively low risk activity and sanctioned outdoor tennis facilities (public and private) under the condition that employers follow specific CDC and USTA guidance. Phase One also now allows for one-on-one (only) instruction with social distancing. If you are interested in booking a private lesson, please contact Jeff Richards, Tennis Director (email@example.com). Private lesson rates can be found on the Private Tennis Lessons page.
Our model for re-opening tennis and pickleball will require members to follow these safety requirements and rules of play:
- Courts will be available by reservation ONLY. All court (tennis & pickleball) reservations will be conducted through the Reservations page.
- Members must review and comply with the MIBC Tennis and Pickleball Guidelines 2020 found on the Reservations page. These guidelines include time slots that end early to minimize inadvertent contact among members, no competitive programs, mask usage when entering or leaving the courts, no socializing, and gated access.
- Members must request keycard activation for gate access, via this link.
Enjoy! Stay tuned for information regarding Phase Two.
