MIBC’s Fitness Center is a 2200 square foot facility with floor to ceiling windows embracing a dramatic view of Lake Washington and Mt. Rainier. The facility contains a variety of exercise equipment positioned to capitalize on the view and a cushioned hardwood floor providing space for other types of workouts. The club’s exercise equipment includes both cardiovascular and strength-training oriented devices aimed at supporting the diverse fitness interests of club members.
The available “cardio” gear offers a variety of different exercise options as well as providing multiples of the most popular types of equipment. Elliptical trainers, tread mills, several types of bikes, a stair master, stepper and rowing machine are available.
The club’s strength-training equipment falls into two general categories: support for “free weight” exercises and “machine defined” exercises. In the latter category are ten different devices aimed at developing specific muscle groups in both the upper and lower body. “Free weight” exercises, on the other hand, are defined by the user, typically using the available dumbbells and variety of benches. A Smith Machine is provided for safety oriented barbell exercises. In addition, the club has a Functional Trainer, a device that can be configured to support a wide variety of user-defined strength training exercises.
The cushioned hardwood floor is available for both individual and group (class) use. A variety of mats, balls and other accessories are available to augment floor exercises.
Hours and Access
The Fitness Center hours are 7AM – 11AM and 3PM-7PM daily by area, by reservation. Reservations are 45 minutes on the hour leaving 15 minutes for staff to clean and sanitize. Walk ups may be accomodated for no shows beginning 0:15 minutes after the hour. Reservations that are not cancelled within 24 hours will be billed at $10 fee. Upon arrival, members will be greeted by the Front Desk Attendant and asked to present ID at check-in for Fitness Center or pool reservations. Strict social distancing and safety protocols must be followed. Face coverings are required at all times. Members are asked to disinfect equipment before and after use. Enjoy your workout!
