Meet Our Board of Trustees
The Mercer Island Beach Club is a member-owned institution, utilizing a Board of Trustees comprised solely of members to oversee the Club. Our energetic Board is an accessible group of committed members dedicated to maintaining the Mercer Island Beach Club as an enduring resource for our current and future members and families. Board members volunteer for consideration and are elected to serve three-year terms. The Board plays an actively engaged role in club operations, with special responsibilities around setting annual budgets and membership fees, planning improvements to our grounds and facilities, and approving upper-level hiring decisions, in conjunction with our experienced staff.
If you are interested in joining our ranks, we’d love to consider you as a candidate. To contact members of the Board, visit our Contact page.
Gardner Morelli, President
Gardner and his family have been members since 2014. While new to MIBC, Gardner grew up on Mercer Island. He returned in 2013 with his wife Kim and daughter Emma (7) after 16 years living outside Washington and the US, to settle down and experience the high quality of life that Mercer Island provides and to be closer to family and friends. Gardner has been in Supply Chain Logistics and Manufacturing for over 25 years with leading companies such as General Electric and Rexel. Gardner’s favorite aspects of the Club are grilling out with friends, enjoying the conversation with members during the summer time, and swimming activities around the pool and lake.

He and his wife Julie are Pacific Northwest natives and enjoy all aspects of the club with their 4 children (ages 13, 10, 8 and 4), but particularly swim team, BBQ’s and socializing with friends during the summer. You might see Andrew DJing at swim meets or the occasional social event, or working remotely from his boat in the marina.

Chuck and his family have been active members of the club since joining in 2008 after moving from the Bay Area. Chuck has a career background in logistics and asset management systems. He and his wife, Melanie, have a daughter Tess (13) and a boy Cutter (11), who have practically lived their summers bouncing back and forth from the lake and pool at the Beach Club. From the time they became members, his family has actively participated in the club’s swimming and tennis programs, enjoyed many a dinner on the deck and volunteered their time for various efforts. The club is their “house on the lake.”

Frances and her family have been members since 2017. Frances is a commercial real estate lawyer. She and her husband, Ryan, moved from NYC to Mercer Island in the summer of 2015. They have two children, Liam (7) and Isla (5). Frances and her family love spending summer at the club and can’t get enough of the spectacular view. Her kids can be found swimming in the pool and love the water slide. They have even attempted to fish in the lake (albeit unsuccessfully). She and her husband enjoy playing tennis and pickleball and socializing with their friends at the club. Being relatively new to the island, Frances and her family are excited to meet and spend more time with the members of the club.
