The Guldbrandt Kristensen family
To be or not to be, a member at MIBC. This was one of the first big questions the Danish Guldbrandt Kristensen family had to decide when they moved here from Copenhagen in January 2015. They chose to join a week after they arrived and have not regretted that decision. The family, Mette, Jakob, Simon (15) and Marie (13) have taken full advantage of the Club’s many offerings. Besides taking swimming lessons and joining Daniel’s tennis classes, Marie and Simon have spent countless hours in the pool or in the lake on their inflatable SUP’s playing and relaxing with friends. When not working from home, you can usually find Jakob swimming laps, hitting off the tennis ball machine, or at men’s tennis night. When her work allows, Mette will recharge her batteries at her weekly gym workouts and at women’s tennis nights. The family has taken up pickleball, and arranged the first annual international father-son pickleball tournament at MIBC this summer. They have shared MIBC with over 50 Danish friends who have trekked the 4800 miles to visit the past two summers. While work and the free college system will eventually lure the family back to Denmark, the memories and the time spent at MIBC will be a key part of the Guldbrandt Kristensen’s American adventure.
